The Momine Khatun Mausoleum was built in 1186 by the renowned architect Ajami Nakhchivani in memory of Momine Khatun, the wife of Shams al-Din Eldiguz, ruler of the Eldiguzid State. Considered one of the masterpieces of the Nakhchivan architectural school, the monument is distinguished by its octagonal design, intricate geometric ornaments, Kufic inscriptions, and remarkable architectural harmony. It represents one of the highest achievements of medieval Azerbaijani architecture and remains one of the most iconic landmarks of Nakhchivan.
